HI FAMILY!!!!!! A LOT HAS HAPPENED THIS PAST WEEK THAT IT`S REALLY HARD TO SUM UP IN ONE EMAIL!!!!
JOSE WAS BAPTIZED YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before he was
immersed in the water, he told the Irmao who baptized him (Irmao Nicholas) that
he didn´t need to plug his nose because it was only for a recommendation for
children.
Funny that he said that.
After the baptism, the Bishop talked
about how José had had to have a heart transplant in the past, and how he was
being born again with a completely knew heart (he was born three times). He
talked about the importance of donating our hearts to Christ, and donating our
time to following him. It was an incredible thought, and the Bishop here, Bishop
Chamorro is super intelligent.
I also had the opportunity to sing I´m trying to
be like Jesus with an instructor in English at the baptism at the request of the
members.
The bishop spoke in Church yesterday, giving all the members an invitation to study the scriptures for at least 30 minutes each day. He said that the majority of the problems that he hears about in interviews with members come from a lack of scripture study in the lives of the members. He said that we get out of the scriptures what we put into them, and that when we pray with real intent to receive an answer from the scriptures, and we seriously study and search the scriptures for an answer, we will come to know that they are the word of God, our questions or doubts will be solved, and a burden will be lifted from our shoulders.
I love our Ward and want to share a few pictures from our get to know you party called
"Fazendo Amigos"--(making friends.)
| Cute Maria Luiza!! |
Yesterday, Leticia went to Church and
she now has a ton of
friends in the ward (the instructors of the CTM). She is always super happy, and
gets along with everyone. The instructors invited her to a ton of activities for
singles in the ward (churrasco), and they all know that she accepted baptism
last night for May 8th!!!
Leticia came to the baptism of José, and loved it.
Last night we taught her about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and invited her to be
baptized. She is SUPER ELECT, and accepted baptized so easily, it didn´t even
feel real.
As for funny/strange experiences;
I have a scorpion na missão (a young man who really just wants to learn about the gospel because he thinks I´m pretty). One day he came up to us and told me I was beautiful in English, and then said that he really liked the Chicago Bulls team. This past week we went to visit him with a priesthood holder of the Church, and randomly during the lesson, he asked us about the church´s stance about dating, and continued talking about receiving revelation to date someone. He kept looking at me repeatedly during the lesson, and my companion and I knew that he was just trying to hit on me. We told him that we can only receive revelation for ourselves, and not revelation for another person (a quote from general conference came into my mind about the dream/revelation received from one person about marrying the other, and waiting to receive the same dream/revelation for yourself in order to marry that person). In the end, we are never going to teach him again, because the lesson was just too strange, and we are going to avoid passing by his house at all costs.
It was a funny experience because it doesn´t happen too often in the
mission haha.
Maria Luiza and Victor received the gift of the Holy Ghost yesterday, and
the Maria Luiza cried after receiving it.
She is really a changed person--has a
warmer heart because she left behind some mistakes of her past, and she always
wants to do what´s right. She went to Josés baptism as well yesterday.
I love you all so much!! This past week we didn´t get to teach Rafaela, but we´re going to try again! Have a great week!!
